About Atom:
Atom was a startup company that set out to introduce a free STEM course that could be taught in Mexico's public schools for free. Currently, the program is on pause, but if implemented this could be the first free STEM program in Mexico and would impact 7 million low resource elementary and middle school students throughout the country.
My Job at Atom:
I was hired as programming manager for the summer of 2019. As programming manager, I was working closely with the marketing and visuals department to create minigames that would help children learn about robotics and mathematics. I developed a total of 7 minigames using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and these games were launched on an online platform using Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Main Takeaways:
As a summer intern I learned programming "languages" like HTML, CSS and JavaScript. These languages are constantly being used for web development. In addition to this, I was able to have my first experience working with people from different departments simoultaneously in order to reach a common goal. This helped me to develope my project management skills.
