Mechanical Engineer
Boeing-TAMU
Mentorship
About the Boeing Mentorship:
The Boeing/TAMU Mentorship Program was created to connect engineering students to industry engineers, technicians, and managers so that students may learn more about what it is like to work in the Aerospace Engineering industry.
About my Mentor:
My mentor during the year long program was Nicholas Page, a design engineer, working in the Charleston facility to diagnose and resolve certification hardware design issues in support of 777X flight test program. We met biweekly and monthly to talk about important aspects pertaining to his job and Boeing.
Main Takeaways:
After the program I had a better understanding of the thinking process that are utilized in big companies like Boeing to design and manufacture products. I understood the financial implications that poor decisions can have on companies and how safety plans are essential for a mass-produced product. Finally, I learned about the current softwares being used by Boeing to analyze aerodynamics, and model and optimize structural parts.
